The traditional Kalom Style house in Ban Vieng

Recently, with the financial help from the ADB and the NamHa Eco Tourism Projects, a community house was set up in the middle of the Ban Vieng village. Ban Vieng (Kalom ethnic group) is located about 3 km from the town center of Luang Namtha, near the airport.

The house is build according to the traditional style of the Kalom people (Kalom, also known as Tai Yuan), although some modern toilet facilities have been added. The house can not just been used by the local villagers for meetings, weeding ceremonies and other events. It also serves as a tourist attraction, where local and international tour companies are able to show tourist the traditional customs of the Lao people. The villagers of Ban Vieng are very proud to keep their traditional customs and welcome tourists to see it.

The villagers are able to offer a range of services, which can be booked by tourists through the Tourism Information Office in Luang Namtha Town , or by any tour company in Laos.

  1. A traditional bacci ceremony with dance performance (no food)
  2. Lunch or Dinner only
  3. Lunch or Dinner, including a traditional bacci ceremony
  4. Lunch or Dinner, including a dance performance
  5. Lunch or Dinner, including a traditional bacci ceremony and a dance performance

Prices:

1. A traditional bacci ceremony with dance performance

•  300 000 Kip (group size doesn't matter)

2. Lunch or Dinner only

•  01 - 10 pax = 65 000 Kip/pax

•  11 - 20 pax = 50 000 Kip/pax

•  21 - 30 pax = 40 000 Kip/pax

•  31 - 40 pax = 35 000 Kip/pax

•  41 - 50 pax = 30 000 Kip/pax

•  51 pax up = 25 000 Kip/pax ( Drinking water and Lao whiskey included)

Kheng Nam Cheu: Mixed vegetables soup 
Koua Pak: Stir fried vegetables
Mok Bon: Taro leaves steamed in a banana leaf
Kao Soi: Noodles with beans, chilly sauce
Tom Pak: Boiled vegetables
Koua Nor: Stir fried Bamboo
Mak Hung: Papaya
Mak Kuai: Banana

Non vegetarian Set Menu (Lunch or Dinner)

Kheng Norsom: Sour bamboo soup with chicken, pork or duck

Laap: Minced pork, fish or beef meat.

Tom Phak: Boiled vegetables

Mok Pa : Steamed fish in banana leaf

Neung Pa: Steamed fish

Kao Soi: Noodles with beef or pork sauce with beans and chilly

Koua Sin: Stir fried pork, beef, and buffalo

Mak Hung: Papaya
