Short description:
This trek takes you through the rice fields of Luang Namtha and into the forested foothills beyond. The trail passes through the villages of Ban Kone, Ban Nam Hoi, Ban Pieng Ngam, Ban Nam Ngean and Ban Nammat. As well as learning about the lifestyles of these different communities, trekkers have the opportunity to witness traditional agricultural practices, community forest use, sericulture and silk weaving. Close to Ban Nam Ngean, you will be able to see the distilling of Lao Rice whiskey and enjoy a visit to the Pom Pouk Stupa.
For overnight, you stay in the village Ban Pieng Ngam, a village, famous for its woven handicrafts. The next day, the trek leads you to the Akha village, Ban Nammat. Your picnic lunch will be served at a rice hut of the Akha people. The trek passes some slash and burned parts of the forest, and crosses some small rivers, before trekkers return to Luang Namtha.
